Altare Basilica
di San Marco
Expression of infinity in the language of the finite.
henrytimi
During the centuries the basilica has undergone several transformations.
The altar with its balustrade was built for the first time in 1733, based on a Riccardi's design and a second time in 1816 according to the neoclassical forms suggested by Albertolli. And today, in 2018, it is renewed by HENRYTIMI's interpretation, linked to his vision on material minimalism
As an answer to the new setting of the liturgical poles, at the intersection of
the transept with the nave, the altar creates a correspondence between this area and the space of the dome, inducing along with this shape the idea of a refectory, that collects and embraces.
Furthermore, the form and the material used give consistency and solidity to the place of the memorialrecalling the covering of the temple in the background.
